Baby Angel
Contradictions converge at the Geroldareal in District 5 of Zurich. On one side, there's the raw, porous, unfinished, and provisional; on the other, the sleek, flat, clean, and enclosed, reflected in the windows of the financial buildings where capital is transmitted every second. The former industrial district in District 5 is undergoing a transformation, as is the cellar at Geroldstrasse 31. In the building, constructed in 1882 and once marked as a petrol depot on the city map around 1900, a collective was formed in the summer of 2022, founding the association Baby Angel. They operate the eponymous space, which stands for community, artistic experimentation, and hybridity. Events and projects in music, performing arts, film, literature, design, and culinary arts are hosted in its distinctive rooms. Since the summer of 2022, a collective of seven, including Marcel Hörler, has been running the Baby Angel arts and cultural venue.
